In To-day's Programme

The one mile race between Sydney Wooderson and Dennis Pell, of Britain, and Blaine Rideout, one of the four Americans who beit Wooderson at Princeton, will be the feature of a 'pro- gramme of 14 events at the third annual Invitational athletic meeting at the White City to-day,

Rideout is considered an even better runner now than when he best Wooderson on June 17. and he won the American Na- tional championship over 1,300 metres recently. from Fenske. Zamperini, and Cunningham, who finished in that order.

The latter is also a capable performer, but has no experi- ence at all of international athletics.

Wooderson has since won the English A.A.A. Championship from Dennis Pell in sound time and is back in excellent running form. Pell is a definite threat to either Clyde Jeffrey, who will represent runner, and it is highly probable America in the sprints, is regarded that Josef Mostert. the Belgian as Champion, will run to make it. a since Jesse Owens. OTHER AMERICANS Ralph Schwarzkopf and Roy Cochran, who will represent the U.S.A. at Three Miles and the 440 Yards Low Burdles respectively, are comparative newcomers. The former is in a class with Emery and Ward of Britain, but lacks experience.
