Throughout the day the market ruled steady at the lower price- level. There were fair enquiries for Immediate and forward de- liveries in evidence.

Late in the session prices advanced by 1/8 cent for all deliveries on further general buying, the market closing with a very steady undertone.

The decision of the International Rubber Regulation Committee" to fix the export-quota at 60 per cent, for July-December, thereby increasing the quota for the current quarter by 5 per cent., was res- ponsible for to-day's price-decline, whilst the market had fully anti- etpated a release of 60 per cent.. for the last quarter of this year. It is felt that by the Committee's action the tight spot situation will: be relieved in future. In some authoritative quarters it is, therefore, expected that somewhat easier conditions may prevail, particularly for near deliveries, in the immediate future, by which, however, more distant positions might possibly not be affected to the same extent. In view of the excellent consumption-prospects the same Rubber-circles do not hesitate advising purchases on further declines. Consumption in USA is how estimated at 135,000 tons for July- September, which, if materialized, would undoubtedly justify the further release of 5 per cent, for the third quarter of this year.
