Dr. Colin Ross & Family: Thirty Years Of Touring Countries Of The World
Loaded down with plenty of baggage, a motor car and many stories of their past travels, Dr. Colin Ross, with his family, descended on Hongkong Yesterday morning, the German author and traveller, accom- panied by Mrs. Ross and a very good-looking son, ar- rived in the Colony on the m.v. Gneisenau from Ja-. pan, vía Shanghai.

Further extending its closure operations against south China ports, the Japanese navy will make the harbours of Santuao, Loyuan and Shad ans, all north of Foo- chow in northern Faklen, in- Accessible this week; Vice-Ad- miral Koshiro Oikawa, com- mander-in-chief of the Jap- anese "China Seas Fleet," an- nounced in Shanghai on July 18.

And now they are in the Colony for several days and will continue on to French Indo-China, which they will tour by motor, terminat- ing this section of their travels in Singapore. Dr. Ross is expecting to be home before the beginning of the year.
During the past thirty years. the "gypsy." in Dr. Ross has caused him to tour the "coun- tries of the world. He knows the peoples well and contends that it is mainly through the use of a motor car which has carried him to many out of the way, places.
He found the Japanese nation well united in their one desire to establish a new order in East Asia." Their patriotic spirit and united "efforts he has not seen in any other section of the world...
"WAR IS HORRIBLE”. Regarding war in Europe, Dr. Ross is an optimist: Having served four years in the World War, he hopes not to see another.
"Anyone who saw service in past wars could never wish for another; they definitely want peace. War is a horrible state. which truly can never be ex- plained or defined; one must Live in it to understand," is the expression of this quick and intelligent author's thoughts.
Now, Dr. Ross is back in the city he appreciates next to Rio de Janerio and be expects to "enjoy his short stay to the utmost.
