Both Chicago and Winnipeg prices took a sizeable tumble to-day. Liquidation, profit-taking and lower Liverpool cables were mainly in- strumental in the decline. Reports of large Argentine offerings also aided the action of the market.
The market opened 1/4 of a cent lower for all deliveries as compared with Wednesday's closing quotations.
Quiet conditions prevailing in London and New York were res- ponsible for a lack of speculative interest on the Singapore market, which ruled quiet and dull throughout the day," but fair enquiries for ́"actuals" were in evidence, resulting, later in the day, in a slight
price-advance of 1/16 cent for Immediate delivery,
It would appear that the unsettled international political situa- tion, at the moment, is the predominantly adverse factor, which prevents the market from continuing its upward trend. despite the fact that the excellent statistical position remains unchanged.
