LONDON, July 18 (BWS)-- An order. has been placed for the construction on the Tyne of an armed cable ship for the General Post Office which already has two cable ships constantly engaged in super- vision and repair of its under- sea cables.

The new ship, to be named Aerial, will be 250 feet long, 35 feet wide and of 1,470 tons gross, and will have a radius of action, with-

out refuelling, of 4.500 nautical

miles,

The Aerial will be equipped with the best and latest navigational instruments such as two special echo sounding apparatus, a larger range finder, wireless direction Ander, submerged pitometer log and wireless telegraphy, and tele- phony apparatus.

Her defensive armament will in- clude high-angle and low angle guns for defence against aero- planes and submarines.
