The market opened 1/16 of a cent higher for all deliveries as compared with Wednesday's closing quotations.

Steady conditions prevailed throughout the day. There was good demand for "actuals," particularly from USA.. in evidence, whilst dealers and speculators also displayed good buying Interest in futures.

Later in the session prices advanced by 1/16 cent for all de- liveries on additional general enquiries, the market closing with a quietly steady undertone.

Expectations of continuous improvement in the European poli- tical situation coupled with overnight cable-reports on further in- dications of an upward business-trend in USA, as evidenced by the reassuring action of the Stock-market in New York, alded by a display of good consumers' demand for "spot" Rubber, all combined to stimulate activity. It was significant, however, that reports of pos- sible labour-troubles in the American "Motorcar-Industry were tirely ignored.

An early decline was in evidence in to-day's market with initial prices market down. This was attributed to liquidation and realis- Ing. The market was easy throughout, but fluctuations were within narrow limits. On the whole, the market displayed no activity and was awaiting the result of the subsidy talks at Washington.
