Two facts above others stood out in Lord Hirst's "account of the activities of the General Electric Co. Ltd., of England, during the past year, which resulted in a net proat of £1,778.000-a new record In the history of the company. The first referred to the benefits re- sulting from the intense efforts of the research workers. FROM ROZĄ BROS Silver prices dropped over the week-end to the extent of 1/3 for Ready and -3/8 for Forward, the quotations being 16.7/8 and 18.5/8 respectively. Silver advices re. ported India as having bought. The drop was attributes to small speculative selling. The market was steady. The American mar- ket was closed yesterday.
The London/New York cross-rate was quoted at 488.15.
