Early in the session the market ruled ateady due to the fact. that there was a fair demand for "actuals," particularly fromi U.S.A., at prices closely approximating current market values, whilst dealers also displayed some buying interest in futures,
It was, however, significant at speculators were reluctant to enter into fresh "commitments to any larger extent. This attitude was presumably caused by the easiness of the Stock markets in London and New York due to rumours of a possible aggravation of the European political tension in the near future.
This fact, coupled with further liquidation of July-Sept. positions later in the day, was responsible for a slight sethack of 1/8 cent for all deliveries, the market closing with a quiet undertone.

With prices slightly marked down at the opening, to-day's mar-. ket presented an easy, appearance. This was attributed to foreign selling and liquidation. On the whole, the market was a narrow affair, and ruled somewhat irregularly's Fluctuations were within a narrow range. Traders awaited the clarification of the European situation and further Washington developments on the subsidy ques- tion.

Prices advanced slightly at the opening to-day. There was some "bear" covering in a narrow market. New speculative buying was also noted.
CHICAGO WHEAT
Prices advanced sharply to-day on the recurrence of uncertain- ties over the European political altuation. Other bolstering factors were reports of unfavourable weather, higher cables and fair exports,
