The market opened 1/8 of a cent lower for all deliveries as com- pared with Tuesday's closing rates.

In sympathy with advices received from London and New York the market was dull and featureless throughout the day.

Despite some enquiries for immediate delivery trade and specu- lative interest was negligible. There was no inducement to operate either way, the market drifting on meaningless.

It seems that some incentive is badly needed and it is hoped that more activity will be witnessed after the impending announce- ment of American consumption for May, which is variously estimat- ed as from 40,000 to 45,000 tons.

Closing tone was quiet.

LATE CABLE NEWS

It was announced that May consumption of Rubber in USA. amounted to 44.377 tons as compared with 44,166 tons for April which was about sa expected,
