LAWN BOWLS NOTES:

Unexpected

Of Two Star Skips Cost Indians Match

Recreio "B's" Meritorious Win Was Last Week's Feature

(By Jack Hy").

All Lawn bowls matches played on Saturday under weather conditions far from ideal were concluded des- pite several interruptions by rain in many cases. Two matches on the Craigengower C.C. green, however, were postponed as the ground was thought to have been unfit for play. These were the C.C.C. v. Kowloon B.G.C. in the First Division and C.C.C. v. Civil Service C.C. in the Second.

With regard to League matches decided on Satur- day, there were several upsets, chief of which was the match between Recreio "B" and the Indian R.C. which the Indians lost by 9 shots. Until their victory over the Indians, the Recreio "B" had only managed to secure "one point in the League as the result of a tle in their "home match against the Kowloon Docks the Saturday before.

The Indians, on the other| hand, had been unbeaten in their three matches, one of their three victims being the Kowloon B.G.C, who had al- ready administered a 26 shot defeat on the Portuguese "B”; team.

B. Basto and J. J. Basto were

eight On the 16th head. I believe he is the first skip this season to accomplish this feat and for this he and his men (W. Melrose, W. C. Boyaird and T F Stainton) in all probability will each be duly rewarded with bottle of whisky.

The Kowloon B.G.C. second responsible for the Recreio "B" team did very well indeed to beat victory, the other Portuguese skip. Kowloon Tong by 12 shots. I must F. X. Soares, losing to A. K.
