Glamour Girls" Position In Hollywood Is Being Threatened

They say the movies are a woman's game, but the advan- tage long held by the "glamour rals" over the mere masculine, players in the film industry is being threatened at last. Holly- wood is in the midst of a cycle of "Man's pictures," in which the female of the species is only incidental

Biggest of the feminine roles is played by Ellan Drew, who has one scene at the beginn ing, one in the middle, and a flash at the end. -

Joan Fontaine, feminine lead in "Gunga Din.” had even less to do, while' Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., es her boy friend, "Victor MeLaglen and Cary Grant monopolised the picture.

Busan Hayward, a piquant, new- comer to pletures, plays the girl Gary Cooper left behind him in William Wellman's "Beau Geste." It was not until someone at the back of the gallery shouted: "Isn't that the King and Queen?", that the audience knew that their Majestics were in the theatre.

When it came to the famous song the audience took their

In "Dawn Patrol" the feminine element was completely lacking- as was the case in "Boys Town." Both these dims were 'outstanding entertainment." -

So this is one cycle which the ladies seem to be sitting out!
