The market opened 1/8 of a cent higher for all deliveries as com- pared with Tuesday's closing rates.
In accordance with advices received from London very steady conditions prevalled throughout the day.
Brisk demand for "actuals" by consuming centres was respon- sible for dealers and speculators displaying good buying interest in futures which is significant in view of the fact that the New York Exchange was closed yesterday (Memorial Day),
Late in the session prices advanced by 1/8 cent for all deliveries. but it was dimcult to transact business due to the reserved attitude of sellers. Consequently the volume of business done was disap- pointing
Closing tone was firm...
It is generally believed that with indications of a return of con- fidence the market will continue to pursue a rising Eendency for the time being. Therefore, a policy of accumulation would seem to be advisable,

Continued reports of unfavourable weather in the South-West imparted a better tone to the market. On the whole, price move- ments were confined to a narrow range, and some small gains were registered for the day.
