In comparison with Friday's closing rates the market opened with prices unchanged for forward options, but 1/8 of a cent higher for immediate delivery.

Quiet, and dull conditions prevalled throughout the session, ac- tivity being at a low ebb due to the approaching - Holidays. Also the sharp decline in Motor-car-production in `USA, during this week, which was attributable to the strike in Detroit, coupled with fears of a possible spread of the strike-movement was' a depress- ing factor:

Towards the close of the session the market became slightly easter, prices declining, by 1/8 cent for all deliveries. Closing tons was dull,
