Silver prices dropped 1/16 yes- terday for both deliveries, the quotations being 20 1/16 for Ready Silver and 19 7/8 for Forward. advices, reported India as having bought to a small extent.. The market was steady at the opening but closed figm with buyers at the quoted rate., Sellers were re- served. American Sliver was quot-
ed at 42 3/4 for Spot.
The London/New York cross-rate was quoted at 468.12. New
London was quoted at 488.1/8.

The market opened 1/8 of a cent lower for all deliveries as com- pared with Wednesday's closing rates.
Quiet and dull conditions prevailed early in the morning in sym=" pathy with advices received from London and New York.
Despite fair demand for immediate delivery by consuming in- terests, dealers and speculators kept to the side-lines, preferring to 'await further developments...
Later in the session, however, the market turned steady on good trade-demand, particularly for forward options, prices advancing by 1/8 cent for forward deliveries. But during the last trading hour the market lost this slight gain on speculative proût-taking, closing with a quite undertone.
