The market opened 3/8 of a cent higher for all deliveries as com- pared with Tuesday's closing quotations.

Throughout the session the market ruled with a steady and Armer undertone, thus responding to better advices received from London and New York.

Fat: demand for "actuals" as well as for forward positions by dealers and speculators was a feature in to-day's market. There were also buying orders in the market for substantial quantities from New York at prices, slightly below ruling values."

Late in the afternoon prices moved higher by 1/8 cent for all deliveries on persistent further buying, but it' was difficult to arrange business due to the reserved attitude of sellers.

Closing tone was steady,

It would appear that the better sentiment was caused by the announcement of a 55 per cent permissible export-quota for July- September, which was generally anticipated. However, the rema ial $7.90 of this uncertainty, which had been overhanging the market recent- ly, had a stimulating Influence upon activity. Future price-move- ments of Rubber would seem to be dependent upon' general business- trend, particularly in USA. developments in the international poli- tical situation etc.

After ruling firm on Home-trade, and American buying, the market eased on disappointing New York advices and closed quiet.

NEW YORK COTTON

The market was irregular after a steady opening. There was good trade" and speculative buying in near positions, especially July, whilst distance options showed some tendency to ease off. The market presented a nervous appearance. Towards the close gains in near options were also partially pared off.

NEW YORK RUBBER ✨

The fillip provided by the "quota” decision in yesterday' market was not sustained by sufficient volume of business and prices be gan to drift. The market was featureless with operators ignoring advices of firmness in the London market.

CHICAGO WHEAT

Weather considerations predominated the market. A dull mar- ket was evidenced by price movements within narrow limits.
