The market opened 1/8 of a cent lower for all deliveries as com- pared "with Friday's closing rates.

In sympathy with easier advices received from London and New York the market exhibited a quiet and dull undertone.

Although fair. demand for "spot" Rubber continues to be in evidence, both dealers and speculators prefer to maintain side-line- positions in view of the impending quota-announcements, Con- sequently activity is at a low ebb, the volume of business transact- ed remaining moderate.

In some quarters the opinion prevails that apart from the statistical position and the fair consumption-outlook the "I, R..R. Committee might be inclined to grant a more liberal release with a view to excluding Rubber from the Anglo-American Barter-plan, thus affording an opportunity of building up reserves from which the interested governments might draw. necessary supplies when requested.

The tone of the market continued to be good at the opening. Prices advanced with the increased activity in the market on trade and foreign buying. Short-covering was also noted, and May option remained firm. The market closed frm with prices main- tained at the day's high levels.

The market continued to be dull and featureless. Measured. by...... price movements, traders were still hesitant because of the pending ""quota" decision. In terma of volume, trading was very much limit-

ed. Prices again moved slightly lower."

CHICAGO WHEAT

The market opened with a better tone to day. There was an early advance in prices on speculative buying and short-covering. Later, the tone of the market was slightly - eaaler, but the closing prices remained almost at the day's high levels.
