The market opened 1/8 of cent higher for all deliveries as com-" pared with Tuesday's" closing rates.

Redecting improved conditions prevalling in London and New New York the market ruled steady throughout the day..

There was active demand for "actuals" in evidence by consum- ing countries as well as by traders whilst good speculative buying interest in futures also was a feature in to-day's market.

Later in the session prices registered a further advance of 1/8 cent for all deliveries on persistent additional general buying.

The better sentiment was caused by a distinct display of more con@dence due to overnight cables reporting on an improved general business-outlook in USA. and a relaxation of the international poll- tical tension despite the uncertainties with regard to the impending announcement of the permissible expert quota for July-Sept. 1939,

After ruling quiet, the market improved on, Home and Contin- ental trade buying, with first hand selling well absorbed,

The overnight steadiness was in evidence at the opening and the early strength was shown by higher initial prices. Later, the market became easier on diminishing demand. Reaction set in with Southern hedge-selling and liquidation. Yesterday's gains were partially pared of.

NEW YORK RUBBER

The market was featureless. Traders were still harassed by the uncertainties relating to outcome of the "quota" meeting.

CHICAGO "WHEAT

The market opened with a frm tone. May option showed an exceptional strength on covering by short interests, whilst other options moved upwards on continued reports of damage to crop by the persisting dry weather.
