The market opened with prices unchanged for air deliveries as compared with Monday's closing rates.

Early in the session the market was stagnant due to the con- tinued disinclination of dealers and speculators to operate either way pending the approaching IR.R. Committee's meeting on 16th in- stant,

Demand for "actuals", by consuming interests was, however. brisk resulting in a price-advance 1/8 cent for immediate delivery during the afternoon session, for which the decline of about 20 per cent. In War-risk premium was also held to be responsible.

The market closed with a quiet undertone.

Consumpton in U.S.A.., for the present quarter. is variously es- timated as from 128,000 to 135,000 tons, and provided this good ab- sorption-rate can be maintained, is expected that ultimately Rubber „ will sell at higher prices, if the international political situation will improve.

A strong tone was in evidence at the opening, and trading was active. Higher Liverpool prices and a rally in the Bombay market brought about trade and commission house buying. Later, short- covering accelerated the advance in prices. Some Wall Street parti- cipation was also noted.

"The market displayed a better tone to-day with higher initial prices. With more favourable outlook, new speculative buying would have further extended the recent gains.
