Shumchun Rural Welfare Centre: $5,000 Contribution From Chinese Government

A pleasant surprise was given members, of the committee of the Shamchan Eural Welfare Centre a couple of days ago when... announcement was made that the National Government of China had contributed no less a sum than $5,000 Chinése national mar- rency towards the work being done. This handsome contribution is most welcome as it will enable a considerable amount of work to be done which" otherwise would have been held up owing to lack of funds. .

The curious feature about the

floods the surrounding lands, To protect the land, therefore, the villagers dammed one tributary but could not afford to carry out the work on the larger waterway.
