The market opened 1/8 of a cent higher for all deliveries as com- pared with Wednesday's closing rates.

In sympathy with advices received from London and New York $11 the market displayed a steady to firm undertone early in the morn- -toting.

Thera was good demand for "actuals" by the principal consuming countries, whilst dealers were likewise buying for immediate and for- ward deliveries on a fair scale. However, speculative buying intarest was somewhat lacking due to fears of a possible quota-increase.

Later in the session the market turned quiet and closed with a quiet undertone.

Total Imports of Rubber from outside British Malaya (during April amounted to 13,996 tons as against 14,035 tons in March.

Malayan Domestic Rubber Exports during April are estimated at 30.000 tons as against 22,000 tons in March..

Preliminary shipments of Native and Estate Rubber from the Netherlands East Indies during April amounted to 43,668 tons as against 13,259 tons in March,
