HOW CHINESE GUERILLAS DERAIL JAPANESE TRAINS

The tearing up of steci tracks to derail Japanese military tralas has become a great pastime with Chinese guerillas behind the enemy lines in the North China province of Hopel. Their labours have been so well rewarded with food, uniforma, money, and most important of all, arms they now consider railroad ralds one of their chief sources of supply.

PRIZED SEIZURES Numerous times in the past months, the Chinese guerillas have not waited in vain. Enemy troop trains loaded with supplies skid- ded and tumbled over long gaps where rafls had been tom up. Any Japanese guards who survived the "accident" were mowed down by the guerillas, who then proceeded to ransack the crusted and twisted coaches for anything useful. The most prized seizures have always been arms and food supplies, par- ticularly the snow-white Japanese Hour which takes the best Chin- ese steamed buns..

A QUICK ADVANCE This done, the armed mem- bers of the party, all picked guerilla warriors, quickly ad- vance to the railway. Some cross the line to split into two or three small groups. In case Japanese troop's should come, it is the duty of those men tó fire from different directions In order to nusiend the enemy forces, while the rest withdraw. Meanwhile, the majority of the ughters, numbering between 70 and 100, remain on their own side of the line. With them are ex.. Of course, the guerillas do not perienced wreckers.
