Early in the session the market ruled with a dull undertone. Dealers and speculators were hesitant to enter into fresh commit- ments despite fair demand for "actuals" by consuming interests."

Subsequently, however, the market turned steady on good trade- buying for immediate and forward deliveries, which, coming on narrow market, caused prices to advance by 1/4 cent.

NEW YORK COTTON

The tone of the market at the opening was fairly steady, with higher initial prices. However, this early advance was short-lived. prices began to recede later on in the session on account of pro- fit-taking. Another disturbing factor, was that opposition was de- veloping against the new cotton plan. Sentiment was somewhat better towards the close, and prices recovered slightly from the day's low levels.

NEW YORK RUBBER

The market again opened with higher prices. Trading was fairly active, and good demand. caused further advances 'In prices. The market closed with prices maintained around the day's high levels.

CHICAGO WHEAT

There was an early advance in the market, and this was kept up on account of unfavourable crop reports, which intuenced new buying and covering by short interests.
