"AN ARTICLED CLERK IN

Amusing Talk To Rotarians

By Mr. C. Bernard Brown

One of the best-received talks given to the Hongkong Botary: Club for a long time, one that kept the Roof Garden in a con," stant subdued roar of laughter, was delivered by Mr. C. Bernard and Brown, A.C.A., partner in 'the firm of Messrs. Linstead Davis, Chartered Accountants at the Club's weekly time in the Hongkong Hotel yesterday,

ME Brown's address, "An Articled Clerk in the City of Lon- don 30 Years Ago," was in the nature of a personal reminiscence, but it was to neatly given, and so interpolated with subtle humorous touches that the listener had more the feeling of going back with him to London in the early part of the century than of hearing him talk about his own early erpertences three de- cades after they had happened.

The applause that greeted the speaker at the end of his talk was loud and prolonged, and the an- nouncement made by Mr. E. J. R. Mitchell that he hoped to have Mr. Brown speak again soon was re- ceived with acclamation.
