The market opened 1/8 of a cent lower for all deliveries as compared with Wednesday's closing rates.

Throughout the session the market ruled quiet and inactive, De- mand for "spot" Rubber by consuming centres was poor, whilst trade and speculative interest was at a low ebb.

The European political tension still is dominating the market. the moment causing operators to maintain side-line positions at pending further clarification of the situation.

During the last trading hour, however, the market became steadier on some trade buying and short-covering. prices advancing by 1/8 cent for all deliveries.

Closing tone was steady.

There was some trade buying and short-covering. Market steady.

NEW YORK COTTON

There was a better tone in the market at the opening, and prices, were slightly higher than the closing of the previous day. On the whole changes were very narrow, and the market was dull, owing to the uncertainties surrounding the export subsidy and barter plans. However, there was less pressure in evidence, and the closing prices remained at almost the highest recorded during the day.

NEW YORK RUBBER

There was a better sentiment due to the slight improvement in the European situation. The steadiness of the London market was also a bolstering factor. On account of these, there was some new the buying and short covering. Prices were distinctly higher at opening than the previous day's closing, but they eased off somewhat during the day, and closed slightly higher than yesterday.

CHICAGO WHEAT

The market was featureless. The European situation offset the bearish crop news. Prices were slightly higher than the previous day.
