FRANCE CONCURS WITH BRITISH GOVERNMENT

WORLD PROFOUNDLY SHOCKED BY FRESH EXHIBITION OF FORCE LONDON, APRIL 13 (REUTER) IN HIS STATEMENT ON THE EUROPEAN SITUATION IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS THIS AFTERNOON, THE PRIME MINISTER, MR. CHAMBERLAIN, ANNOUNCED BRITISH'S PLEDGE OF SUPPORT AGAINST AGGRESSION TO GREECE AND RUMANIA. FRANCE, THE PRIME MINISTER ADDED, HAD CONCURRED. There was a tense atmosphere in the House when Mr. Chamberlain rose to make his promised statement on the European situation.

The Prime Minister had left his residence Downing Street ten minutes before the House met and was cheered by large crowds en route.

In his statement, the Premier said that the events which had brought the House back had created wide- spread uneasiness and disquiet, especially in the Eas- tern Mediterranean.

Mr. Chamberlain declared that the accounts of were conflicting, and sometimes one-

Mr. Chamberlain then proceeded to read detailed and conflicting reports from Italian and Albanian sources. He said that on April 8 the Albanian Minis- ter appealed to the British Government to do its ut- most to aid a small nation, desperately trying to defend its own territory. There was no doubt as to the general effect produced by the Italian action in Albania.

Public opinion throughout the world, said the Prime Minister, had been shocked by the fresh ex- hibition of the use of force.
