MOTHER OF GUERILLAS TELLS HER STORY
Manchurians Commence
Volunteer Movement
Special to the "Hongkong Daily Press"
She was' Mrs. Chao is a native of Manchuria, responsible for the volunteer movement against the Japanese rule. After the Japanese attack on Lukou- chiao on July 7, 1937, which started the present Sino- Japanese war, she engaged in guerilla activities in the suburbs of Pelping where she had organized bands of oppressed peasants to fight for liberty. It is one of the most glorious pages in the history of the war. The old lady in spite of her age of 63, has been travelling throughout the 'country rousing the people to fight against the Japanese. She is known by the name of Mother Guerilla. Not long ago she arrived in Hong- kong and in an interview gave the following story of her part in the volunteer movement in Manchuria. The old lady is now touring British Malaya.
