The market opened 3/8 of a cent lower for all deliveries as compared with Tuesday's closing rates.
Quiet and dull conditions prevailed throughout the day thus re- sponding to advices received from London and New York. The easi-. ness on the London and New York stock-markets coupled with a re- newal of European political uncertainties was a depressing factor and caused dealers and speculators to adopt a" hesitant attitude. Also the belief, that the peak of American consumption has passed and that the outlook now is less promising, exercised a restraining in- quence on the market.
Closing tone was quiet.
