ICHENG, HUPEH, APRIL 3 (CENTRAL)—A SERIES OF RAIDS STAGED. BY CHINESE UNITS IN CENTRAL HUPER HAS CAUSED CONSIDERABLE LOSSES TO THE JAPANESE during the past few days. A Chinese unit forced a crossing over the Siang River at Huangchia- chang, northwest of Tsienkiang, and attacked the Jap- anése positions at Sanbochang and Tafengchang on the north bank of the 'stream. The unit inflicted scores of casualties during the fighting.

The Chinese also attacked the Japanese at San- yangtien, and Lulkungtlen, between Kiangshan and An- lu. Hiding behind barricades, the Japanese offered stub- born resistance but sustained heavy losses.
