The market opened with prices unchanged for all deliveries as compared with Wednesday's closing rates,
Throughout the session the market ruled quiet and featureless. Apart from the unsettled international political, situation trade and speculative activity appears to be increasingly coming under the influence of the uncertainties with regard to quota-release for the third quarter of this year. In well informed Rubber circles the opinion seems to be gaining ground that the present release of 50 per cent for the second quarter would remain unchanged for July- September unless present low values would substantially advance. It Is signifcant, however, that, at the present time, the market already 1s subject to such apprehensions in view of the fact that the I.R. RC's meeting will take place on May 16."

The market staged a fair rally from the previous day's close early in the session. This is was principally due to higher Liverpool advices. After ruling stady, prices eased on liquidation, which was induced by the weakness of securities. The continued uncertainty regarding the situation in Washington in connexion with the Ad- ministration's farm programme is causing caution amongst traders. At the close, prices rallied slightly to finish up below the day's low levels,

Early in the session, prices held steady, though they were slight- ly below those at yesterday's close Later values declined in sym- $3.00 pathy with Wan Street. The lack of support caused the market to
close around the lows registered for the day.
The reported increased European tension was the dominating factor and caused prices to advance slightly in spite of the poor statistical position. Prices hardened with foreign markets. There was an improved cash demand and also some short covering late in the day.
