The market opened with prices unchanged for all deliveries as "compared with Friday's closing rates.
Early in the morning, the market ruled with a quiet undertone. Although fair enquiries for "actuals-by consuming centres were in in evidence, speculators preferred to maintain site-line positions' in view of the unsettled international political situation. Consequently only a moderate volume of business was transacted at quoted rates. Towards the close of the session, however, the market turned easter due to speculative liquidation, prices declining by 1/4 cent for all deliveries. "

NEW YORK COTTON
The market was fairly steady at the opening, though price move- ments were within a narrow range. Higher Elverpool cables and buy- ing by Wall Street helped the early market. After opening steadiness, conditions became quiet under liquidation. due largely to week-end uncertainty. The continued confusion regarding the" legislative poal- tion in Washington was an unsettling influence.
