Early in the moming the tone of the market was uncertain, al- though there was a fair demand for "actuals" in evidence. Dealers and speculator khowed little inclination to enter into fresh engage- ments either way preferring to await further developments

Later in the session, however, the market became very steady on considerable general buying interest, both for spot and futures whilst prices advanced by 3/8 cent for futures and 1/2 cent for prompt. de- livery due to the reserved attitude of sellers.

Closing tone was steady,
