The market opened with prices unchanged for all deliveries as compared with Tuesday's closing quotations.

In sympathy with advices received from London and New York the market ruled quiét, but steady throughout the session Reporta on the European political situation did not adversely affect the mar- ket to-day, being obset by satisfactory February Consumption-Figures in U.S.A. which were announced at 42.385 tons, whilst Stocks "held in at the end of February were reduced to 231.475 tons.

After a moderate volume of business having been transacted on basis of quoted rates the market closed with a qulet undertone,

Dealers' stocks in Straits Settlments, together with stocks at the ports on February 28 amounted to 31.125 tons as compared with 34.136 tons at the end of Jan. 1939.

The market was quiet and irregular for most of the morning and price changes were practically negligible. Later, however, values eased on liquidation, as the result of the decline on Wall Street, coupled with political uncertainties in Europe. Towards the close. the market partially recovered on trade buying at the lower levels and also owing to some short covering.

NEW YORK RUBBER

The foreign situation also dominated this market. Prices acted "in sympathy with London and with securities. At the decline, prices were slightly steadier, with prices recovering from the lows for the day.
