From Ross Bros. Silver prices rose yesterday to the extent of 1/8 for Ready and 1/16 or Forward, the quotations being 20 5/8 and 29 respectively. Silver advices reported India as having bought. The market was steady. American Silver was quot- ed at 42 3/4 for Spot.

The market opened with prices unchanged for all deliveries as #101 compared with Friday's closing quotations.
Reflecting advices received from London and New York the mar- ket ruled quiet throughout the session. Only a moderate demand for "actuals" by consuming interests was in evidence, whilst dealers and speculators were disinclined to operate either way.
Toward the close of the session prices* declined by 1/8 cent for all deliveries, the market closing, however, with a steadier undertone. It would appear that the market is awaiting the announcement of consumption-figures for February, which are variously estimated as from 40,000 to 43,000 tons. Overnight cables from USA report- ing on a further substantial increase of Motor-car production for thia week would seem to indicate a continuance of fair consump- flon-outlook..

A very quiet market, with price movements extremely narrow, early in the session. Subsequently, values eased on liquidation and South selling. This was induced by uncertainty in connexion with Washington developments regarding the cotton programme.
