IN RESPONSE TO A SPECIAL REQUEST BY THE "HONGKONG DAILY PRESS" FOR A CHINESE NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO ITS READERS, THE FOREIGN Minister of the Chinese Government replied as follows:
I am glad to respond to your request for a brief message for publication on the Spring Festival. The occasion signifies the resurgence of life around us. It coincides this year with the Fifth Anniversary of the.. New Life Movement.
Our thoughts on this day are, therefore, directed to the re-birth of China, which is taking place in the adversity of war. In its ruthless invasion, our enemy has brought death and ruin to millions of our people.
