The market opened 3/8 of a cent lower for all deliveries as com- pared with Tuesday's closing rates.
Responding to quiet conditions prevailing in London and New York the market ruled dull and featureless early in the session, which was accentuated by the fact that demand for "actuais" from London and New York was poor, whilst dealers and speculators were disinclined to operate,
Subsequently the market became easier due to liquidation and speculative selling influenced by apprehensions of a possible increase to 55 per cent. in the permissible export-quota for the second quar- ter of this year. Prices registered a gradual further decline of 1/4 cent for all deliveries, the market closing with a quiet undertone.

Early in the session, prices moved higher on buying by Liverpool and Wall Street interests. Later, there was some selling by mills of nears, causing prices to recede somewhat. Trading, on the whole, was quiet, with operators-awaiting Washington news regarding the release of Loan cotton.

The market, early in the day, was lower in sympathy with un- favourable Overseas' advices. Later, however, prices sharply recover- ed. CHICAGO WHEAT
The market was inactive, with price movements narrow in the Arst hours of trading. Later, prices improved slightly on reports of a severe cold spell in the South-West, causing fears of damage to the crops. There was some covering by short Interests, whilst Western traders were buying.
