Japanese have allered that they are conducting mill- tary operations which would be impeded by the movement of third-party ships, replied Mr. R. A. Butler in the House of Commons yesterday, when acked by Commander Marsden under what rule of International law the Japanese were preventing British vessels using the Pearl River.

LONDON, Feb. 7 (T/Ocean)— Burma is to have its own national faz and to take its place as an autemuineus State within the 'Bri- tish Commonwealth of Nations, a position which had been formally granted to it after the separation from India in 1937.

The new flag shows on a blue field the Union Jack in the top "of the left corner and on the right halt, a peacock in natural colours, set in a circle of gold. The pea- cock design taken from · silver coing issued in the year 1852 dur- ing the reign of King Mindon.
