The market opened 1/8 of a cent lower for all deliverica" as compared with Wednesday's closing rates.

Quiet conditions prevailed throughout the day, thus responding to. advices received from London and New York.

Speculative buying interest in fütures was at a low ebb, the mar- ket being influenced by the weakness of Guilders, which caused deal- ers and speculators to adopt a waiting attitude.

Later in the session prices declined by 1/8 cent for all deliveries due to some liquidation, the market closing with a quiet undertone. Total shipments of Rubber from Malays during January amount- ed to 43,332 tons as compared, with 32,901 tons for December and 39.340 tons for November 1938 respectively..

The market to-day was extremely dull and featureless. Price movements throughout the session were narrow. There was no news from Washington. Traders are now adopting a cautious attitude owing to uncertainty over the Loan outlook.

NEW YORK RUBBER

A quiet market, with, traders awaiting the result of the Interna- tional Rubber Regulation, Committee's meelig. Early in the day. prices declined on liquidation but, with firmer securities and steadier cables from abroad, the market closed fairly firm, having recovered the earlier losses.

A quiet and featureless market, owing to the lack of fresh buy- of the movements ing. The market, on the whole, followed the Liverpool exchange, which also displayed duliness throughout the
