$30,000 CLAIM AGAINST CHINA UNDERWRITERS

A CLAIM, THE HEARING" OF 'WHICH IS EXPECTED TO LAST A MONTH, was instituted in the Supreme Court yesterday before the Chief Justice, Sir Atholl MacGregor, by the Cheong, Shing Hong, commission arents, of No. 31 Bonham Strand West, against the China Underwriters. Ltd., of No. 4A Des Voeux Road Central.

The claim is for $30.908.23, being the rateable proportion of loss and damage to goods in plaintiffs' godown at No, 303 Cón- naught Road West as the result of a fire on January 7, 1998. The goods were insured for a total of $150.000 under policies with defendants and other insurance companies.
