JULY-SEPT.

Early in the morning the market displayed a Brmer undertone due to better advices received from London and New York. Demand for "actuals" was fair, whilst there were also good enquiries by deal- .. ers and speculators in evidence.

Later in the session, the higher price-level attracted some selling which was chiefly attributed to profit-taking. Prices registered a sight decline of 1/8 cent for all deliveries, the market closing with a steady undertone.

It would appear that the market is still highly sensitive to out- side influences such as the trend of the Stock-markets in London and New York, developments in the European political situation etc. It is believed that in view of the healthy statistical position" higher markets may be expected on a return of condence and generally better sentiment.

*NEW YORK COTTON

The market opened steady and further improved on Trade and Liverpool demand, but price movements were confined within nar- row limits. Nearby months were steady on price-fixing, whilst dis- tant positions gained strength on the likelihood of a long wait for farm legislation. It is reported that some traders are switching their March and May commitments to new-crop months and also that there are large uncovered new-crop shorts.
