The market opened 3/8 of a cent lower for all deliveries is com- pared with Saturday's closing rates.
Reflecting exsler advices received from London and New York the market ruled quiet during the day. Only a moderate demand for "actuais" by consuming centres was in evidence, whilst dealers and speculators displayed no inclination to operate efther "way. Consequently only a small volume of business was transacted.
However, late in the afternoon session the market became steadler due to some trade buying which, coming on a narrow mar- - ket caused prices, to advancè by 1/8 cent for all deliveries.
Closing tone was quietly steady.
Whilst the opinion prevails in some quarters that very little price-changes may be expected for the time being, other Rubber circles maintain that the consumption Agures for December were somewhat disappointing, having fallen slightly" short of expecta- tions. They believe, that even in the event of world-stocks being reduced to about 400,000 tons by the end of March, the present price-level would appear to be adequate and that no substantially higher prices may be expectd in the near future.

Prices eased in sympathy with the Stock market, after which the market was quiet. There was good business at the lower levels.

Early in the session, prices declined on foreign selling, due to nervousness regarding the European. political situation. There was also some local selling, whilst the weakness of securities was also an adverse factor. However, there was little disposition to press the market, in view of the tightness of the old-crop supply situation. Trade price-axing in near months provided the chief support.
NEW YORK RUBBER
The market reflected the easiness in London and tension in con- nexion with the European political situation. Prices declined or liquidation by Commission houses and selling by the Trade. At the lower levels, however, short interests covered their near commit- ments. whilst factory buying absorbed offerings of forward positions. At the close, the market was somewhat steadier..
CHICAGO WHEAT..
Early in the day, prices advanced slightly on scattered covering and on Armed abroad. The unsettled' European political situation caused, easiness later in the day. Further adverse factors were Eastern selling, the weakness of securities and other commodity markets, reports of beneficial rains in Kansas and the absence of export interest. *
