JAPANESE PLANNING TO

ATTACK NANNING

May Land In Southern

Border Of Kwangtung

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT} CHUNGSHAN, January 22-Latest Japanese movements in Kwangtung indicate that they are planning to attack Nanning, an important city in Kwangsi, rather than to invest Wachow owing to the dimcult terrain and the mines on the West River. The heavy bombing of Yamchow, or Yingchow, south-west of Pakhel, and the concentration of Japanese warships and trans- ports around Welchow Island, in the Gulf of Tongkin, lend colour to the belief that Japanese troops may make a landing in the southern borders of Kwangtung and Kwangsi, whence an over- - land attack on Nanning can be undertaken.
