The market opened 3/8 of a cent, lower for all deliveries as compared with Monday's closing rates.

The market ruled very quiet throughout the day. There was very little activity displayed by dealers and speculators despite fair enquiries for "spot" Rubber by consuming countries. It would ap- pear that operators prefer to await further developments on the Lon- don and New York markets before entering into fresh commitments.

Closing tone was quiet.
