CHUNGKING, Jan. 17 (Central) |—A $1,400,000 paper factory' called the Tlenfung Paper Manufacturing Company will be established in Kunming shortly, according to a Shanghal report.

The projected concern is the re- sult of the recent visit of Mr. Tu Yueh-sheng. Mr. Y. M. Chien and other prominent. Anancial and in- dustrial magnates from Shanghal to the southwestern provinces to study economic conditions there.

The market opened 1/4 of a cent higher for all deliveries as compared with Saturday's closing rates.

Very steady conditions prevailed in Singapore throughout the day, thus responding to the better sentiment displayed by the London and New York markets. Buying interest in future by dealers and speculators was stimulated by the promising consumption - outlook. particularly in USA, as well as by reports of a more favourable view taken on the European political situation.

Later in the session prices advanced gradually by 3/8 cent for all deliveries due to the reluctance of sellers to meet persistent further buying for trade and speculative accounts, the market closing with a firm undertons.

World consumption during the first quarter 1939 is expected to amount to 250,000 to 270,000 tons, which, if realized, might result in a decline of World-stocks to about 400,000 tons.
