AUTHORITIES RETICENT TO BE INVESTED

OVER CAMP ESCAPE

Mass Break Was Revealed After Arrest Of Six Men

LOCAL AUTHORITIES, BOTH CIVIL AND MILITARY. were reticent yesterday when questioned about the escape of 109 in- terned Chinese soldiers from the internment camp at Ma Thu Chung, Kowloon, which came to light following the arrest of she men in a Kowloon street on January 14.

These six men were arrested by a squad of police in Boun- dary Street in the early hours of Saturday morning. They were In a group of eight when the squad approached with the ob- Ject of questioning, as their presence at the time of right rais- ed some suspicion; they ran away, but were captured after a chase The other two escaped.

From inquiries which followed it appeared that the men had broken away from the camp in the easiest of manners, going down a man- hole which led to a nullah, that ran down to the sea.

Some dimculty is anticipated in' the recapture of the men, as no individual descriptions have been

taken and their only means of identification is the uniform which they wear, and which they are not ikely to retain.
