On Theft Charge

One further case, sequel to the big fire which broke out at Wallington Street on Saturday morning, was brought before Mr. T. J. Houston at the Central Court yesterday morning when another fire- man, Chan Kim-mo, aged 23. was sentenced to three months' hard labour.

Chan Kim-mo, fireman No. 25, stationed at the Central Fire Bri- gade Station. was convicted on the charge of theft of a sliver cup, a jade ring, a pearl brooch, and a bunch of keys, the property of Wong Pan, a tallor, residing at No. 45, Wellington Street, first floor.

Sergeant Taylor entered the rear cubicle and found three drawers opened, the contents of which had been emptied into a bed.

Denying the allegation, defendant said some inflammable articles on the Hoon, had caught fire and as he was in the act of getting some water to extinguish the flames Sergeant Taylor came in and arrested" him, accusing him uf larceny.

At the conclusion of the case Mr. Houston commented Sergeant Tay- lor on his excellent work.
