Christmas At The Hotels
One of the merriest places in Hongkong on Christmas Eve was the Gloucester Hotel. Never before had the management to cope with such a big crowd and the fact that everybody went away thoroughly happy speaks volumes for the very ractful and efficient manner Mr. P. Chessex and his merry band of workers coped with the rush.
'An excellent dinner was served and the many that came after dinner also had places found for them though, even early in the evening it seemed as though no more room could be found for any body.

The Bank of Chirin is expected to open a branch at Rangoon at the beginning of next month. As a suitable building in the Chinese business quarter has not been avaliable, the office is to be open- ed at No. 55 Phayre Street, in the banking quarter. A branch will be opened in the Chinese quarter to afford facilities to the Chinese re- sidents. It is believed that, when trade between China and Burma improves, branches will be opened in the main cities along the Yun- nan-Burma Highway.
