Sliver prices, rose 1/18 over the week end for both deliveries, the quotations being 20 for Ready and 19 3/8 for Forward. Sliver advices. reported the market $3 being steady with a little speculative American and American buying.

Silver was quoted at 42, 3/4 for Spot.

The London New York cross- New rate was quoted at 487. 25.

York London was quoted at 467. 9/16.

28-3/8 28-5/8 up 1/8 Influenced by conditions prevailing in London and New York the market opened 1/8 of a cent higher for all deliveries as compared with Friday's closing rates.

Throughout the session the market displayed a quiet and dull undertone. Moderate enquiries for "actuals" by consuming centres were in evidence, whilst dealers and speculators were disinclined to operate either way to any larger extent.

„Towards the close of the session, however, the market became steadler on some buying, chiefy accredited to trade-accounts, result- ing in a slight price-advance of 1/8 cent for all deliveries.

Closing tone was quiet, but steady

It would appear that the uncertainties with regard to Sterling are still exercising a restraining influence upon the market, whilst reports of continued satisfactory Motorcar-production and of general business-recovery in USA. fall to stimulate sentiment for the time
