In sympathy with slightly easier advices received from London

and New York the market opened 1/8 of a cent lower for all de-

liveries as compared with Tuesday's closing quotations.

Very quiet and dull conditions prevalled throughout the session. Both dealers and speculators were disinclined to operate either way. preferring to maintain side-line positions for the time being. Conse- quently only a negligible volume of business was passing at quoted

rates.
