Out of the 50 million war refugees scattered 'all over China, ap- proximately 500,000 "find refuge in the foreign controlled areas, Hongkong included, an official statement reveals. If these fortunate few could only realize how incomparably better their plight is com- pared to others, who are denied any well-organized help, the task of alleviating their sufferings would be less complicated for the an- thorities in charge.

Miss China" Quest Still

. Unsatisfied

After an exhaustive search for more than a month, Mr. -Fong Gem-toone, prominent Chinese nawspaper proprietor from San Fran. cisco. Is still at a loss to find “Miss China" for the San Francisco Exposition to be opened on February 18 next year.

After arriving here from America by the Philippine Clipper on November 2. Mr. Fong has succeeded in collecting 90 per cent of the exhibits, but is still desperately looking for the ideal Chinese beauty.

Mr. Fong has met many pretty Chinese girls in Hongkong but he has yet found no one who can meet his requirements.

However. Mr. Fong is said to be thinking of modifying his re- quirements. He is now willing to accept a Chinese movie star who can meet some of the qualifications.

The exhibits collected by Mr. Fong include antiques, ivory arti- cles, embroideries, ancient paintings and scrolls.

He will return to San Francisco on January 6.
