Judge Laloum told Judge Santol he had been legally appointed by the Governor. But Judge Santol asserted that as his leave did not start for three weeks he was still judge.

Words led to blows and Judge chair at Judge Santol buried a Laloum. The court was cleared with unusual hustle, so the rest of the"fight was lost to the disap- pointed pubile.

When Judge Laloum reappeared f court he declared he was not prepared to transform it into a theatre for public amusement and adjourned all cases sine die.

The matter has been referred to the Governor-General of Pondi- cherry.
